2023 Tree Planting

Nigeria has suffered a severe loss of forest land due to various forms of deforestation. Between 1990 and 2010, the country lost an average of 409,650 hectares (2.38%) of its forest cover every year, which amounts to an estimated 47.5% of its total forest area. This has negative impacts on the environment, such as increased greenhouse gas emissions, reduced biodiversity, and soil erosion.
One of the simplest and most effective ways to combat deforestation and its consequences is to plant more trees. Trees not only absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and produce oxygen, but also beautify our planet and provide habitats for many living creatures.
At ECCI, we are aware of the importance of tree planting and its benefits for the environment. That is why we have committed to creating a greener and cleaner environment for Junior Secondary School Aleita, as part of our school scholarship program. We believe that by planting trees, we can make a positive difference for our planet and our future generations.
